GT4RS Wing Riser Install Guide

  1. Gather required tools
      • Socket wrench with T30 socket, ~6” extension
      • A second T30 bit- either a screwdriver-type or socket wrench
      • Thin, flathead screwdriver
      • Non-marring pry tool, preferably plastic
      • Microfiber towels, to protect paintwork
      • A large, non-marring surface to place the wing during installation
      • Torque wrench
      • Blue loctite
      • Heat gun (optional)
  2. Note the angle of attack setting of your wing, assuming you want to return it to the same position upon re-install. The position of the wing mounting nut in the front tab determines the angle of attack.
  3. Remove the four screws securing the wing to the stock risers. The outer mounting nut must be held with a T30 bit, while a second T30 bit is used to loosen the inner screw. Note the location and orientation of the metal washer (not pictured, as this car had an aftermarket wing setup), and be sure not to lose them as the screws are removed. Have a helper support the wing as the screws are removed. Place the wing aside.
  4. Pop the rear decklid, then use the flathead screwdriver to pop out the small trunk light, disconnect its electrical connector, and set aside. The light must be disconnected in order to remove the plastic trim in a later step.
  5. Use the flathead screwdriver to slightly bend one retaining clip inward on the plastic grab handle shroud. Once one tab is bent inward, pull the plastic shroud out from the decklid.
  6. Behind the shroud, use the T30 socket with extension to remove the two mounting screws.
  7. Remove the cosmetic bolt covers on either side of the decklid. There's an outer cover which snaps onto an inner cover, which is held in place with double-sided adhesive, so a little gentle heat can be helpful in getting it removed cleanly. These should be re-installed later to prevent water ingress, so try to keep the adhesive in good shape for re-installation.
  8. Pry the plastic trim away from the decklid. It's held in place by metal snaps, so note the location of the snaps in the photo, and work slowly around the perimeter. It takes significant force to disengage the snaps the first time around, and you should expect a loud pop as they disengage. Take care not to lose any of the three conical caps, or rubber gaskets on each snap- it's easy for these to fall off during removal.
  9. Using the T30 bit, remove the two screws from the inside, then three screws from the outside on both risers. The outer screws are tricky to pull out from the decklid without getting caught up on the sheet metal- a magnet tool can be helpful, otherwise just be patient with removal. If a screw falls into the cavity, it can be easily retrieved once the riser is removed from the decklid. Remove the risers from the decklid.
  10. The stock weather seals will not be re-used. The foam gaskets around the base of the RSNV riser provide a 100% waterproof seal, in addition to protecting your paintwork.
  11. Apply blue loctite, then re-install the five screws securing each riser to the decklid. Apply downward pressure to the riser to compress the foam gasket to the decklid as the screws are tightened; the downward pressure is essential to ensure the screws line up with the holes in the risers. Start by lightly tightening all five bolts, then torque the inner bolts to 8 Nm, and the outer bolts to 12 Nm.
  12. Reinstall the plastic decklid trim, ensuring all snaps are aligned with their respective holes in the decklid, and the trunk light wiring is routed through the hole, before applying significant force. Reinstall the trim screws, plastic grab handle shroud, and trunk light. Reinstall the cosmetic bolt covers.
  13. Shut the decklid and reinstall the wing. Ensure the metal washers are in the correct location (not pictured due to aftermarket wing setup), apply blue loctite to the screws, and torque to 12 Nm. Check that the angle of attack is set to your desired position.
